Early Years SEND Partnership

nasen is proud to be part of the DfE-funded Early Years SEND Partnership Project led by the Council for Disabled Children (CDC). The other partners are I CAN, The Communication Trust, Contact, National Children’s Bureau (ncb) and Dingley’s Promise. nasen is currently working with Local Authorities from the nine regions across the country to develop their SEND provision at a strategic level through Regional Action Learning Sets and Specialist Action Learning Sets. The Local Authorities are: The London Borough of Newham, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Birmingham, Kirklees, Northumberland, Trafford and Northants.

Each of the partners within the Early Years SEND Partnership also provide training for Early Years practitioners: nasen has trained over 170 Early Years SENCOs as SEND Reviewers this year and over 300 practitioners on our ‘Meeting the Needs of Every Child’ course. All training courses have been delivered as live webinars or recorded webcasts this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meeting the Needs of Every Child

This DfE funded online course is FREE to access and will provide Early Years Practitioners with a thorough understanding of inclusive practice for SEND in Early Years settings. The 90 minute webcast will cover the following topics:

  • Responsibilities of a PVI setting towards children with SEND
  • The role of the SENCO and the key person
  • What effective inclusive practice looks like in a PVI setting
  • How to use nasen's free face-to-face training materials.
